About

Thunderbird Nest

Bellwether Housing and Chief Seattle Club are partnering to build Thunderbird Nest with 209 affordable apartments for people earning 30% to 60% of Area Median Income.

Apartment sizes will range from studios to four bedrooms. A majority of the units will be family-sized two–four bedrooms.

Located in Seattle’s Licton Springs neighborhood a short distance to North Seattle College, Northgate Station, Robert Eagle Staff Middle School and Cascadia Elementary School, residents will enjoy an easy commute to education and opportunities across the region.

The project will feature Native Alaska/Native American design elements such as a dance arbor, heavy timber awnings and commissioned artwork.

Services will be culturally relevant and responsive to American Indian/Alaska Native communities in King County that are disproportionately impacted by homelessness. Chief Seattle Club will provide onsite resident services through an indigenous lens and trauma-informed approach.

The land was purchased from North Seattle College and serves as a demonstration project for using vacant, state-owned land for redevelopment as affordable housing.

Thunderbird Nest will open to residents in 2029.
