As Deva Hasson, the chair of our board of directors, said, our communities' affordable housing crisis may seem like a big puzzle —one of those 5,000-piece ones — which can feel overwhelming. Bellwether puts many of the essential pieces together, with our affordable housing and residence services framing the picture and giving the puzzle structure. And by attending Closer to Home, and adding your supporting pieces, you are doing your part to solve the puzzle and help people build stability. Thank you for helping us put the pieces together for 5,000 residents!

Featuring a Keynote Address by Ethan Ward
Closer to Home featured a Keynote Address by Ethan Ward, an award-winning multimedia journalist, author, and podcast host. Ethan's reporting focus covers a variety of topics that include homelessness, housing, and LGBTQ+ communities. His work can be found on numerous
platforms including KPCC, LAist, and Marketplace, and has been cited by every major news outlet in Los Angeles, including the L.A. Times.

Ethan lived in his car for a year while attending community college. "It completely changed my perspective about who can fall into homelessness and I hope to change your perspective as well," says Ethan.
