Reopening after a renovation, The Cambridge apartments combine turn-of-the-century charm with modern features. The building has an unbeatable location. Tucked on the north edge of First Hill, adjacent to Freeway Park, The Cambridge puts you steps away from major employment centers, frequent bus transportation, light rail, the Central Public Library, shops and restaurants, Seattle Central College, and conveniences like grocery and drug stores. The location boasts a walk-score of 97. In the renovation, all units received new carpet, new appliances, and new windows. These spacious studios feature walk-in closets, eat-in kitchens, and full bathrooms.

We will have floor plans and a materials board available for viewing.  Pictures of a “sample” unit will be available for your review.​

How do I apply?

The process is the same as applying for other buildings in the Bellwether Housing portfolio. Use the Find Your Apartment Tool to see if you qualify for an apartment at The Cambridge. Enter your information in the tool, and if The Cambridge shows up in the list of available apartments, you meet the basic eligibility criteria. Download the eligibility and screening criteria, please print the packet (single-sided) and bring the completed forms to the leasing event.

Residents must qualify at the income levels described above and meet the qualifications linked to above.

Bellwether will consider applications in the order in which completed applications are received. An application is considered complete when all of the information outlined on the attached list, “What to Bring to Your Application Appointment” is received and the applicant has met with the leasing agent. If the applicant fails to bring any of the required information to the appointment, the appointment will be stopped and rescheduled for the following business day. Application appointments will be rescheduled only once. If we contact you to clarify employment, rental history or other information, you will have 72 hours to provide the information before your application is stopped.

Please note the following:

  1. Bellwether does not accept Portable Screening Reports.

  2. All adults in the household must view and apply for the unit in person.

  3.  If you would like to request additional time to complete the application due to limited English proficiency or as a reasonable accommodation for a disability, please advise the leasing agent.

  4. At least one member of the household must be 18 years of age or legally emancipated with proof of emancipation.

Information about Unit Sizes, Rents, and Security Deposits 

All Studios at The Cambridge are approximately 400 square feet.

Studios for households at 50% Area Median Income (AMI) or below


Studios for households at 60% of AMI or below


Some 60% units may have a concession available if you move into the building prior to 1/31/19.

Fees and Deposit Schedule

Full Month’s Rent due at lease signing, payable by Money Order or Cashier's Check only. No cash or personal checks.

Screening fee is $28 for each adult applicant. The fee is non-refundable, payable by Money Order, Cashier's Check, or Personal Check; no cash accepted. 

Full Deposit payable by Money Order or Cashier's Check only (no cash or personal checks accepted) is due at the time of move-in.  Applicants may make payment arrangements over a six-month period, with the first installment due at lease signing.


Studios and One Bedrooms $375.00

Resident Qualifications 

The Cambridge provides affordable housing to people with moderate incomes. 

Specifically, the building serves people making below either 60% or 50% or area-median income. To see if you qualify, find your household size in the columns at the top, and then look at the two income amounts below your household size. To qualify, your gross annual income must be at or below one of those two amounts. For example, a one-person household with an income of $40,000 annually would qualify for a 60% AMI unit.

Restrictions Regarding Full-Time Students as Residents

Due to Federal funding requirements for this property, applicant households must have an adult member who is not a full-time student unless one of the following student prohibition exceptions is met. You are:

  1. married and filing a joint federal tax return with spouse

  2. a single parent with a minor child and neither are dependents of a third party

  3. receiving benefits under Title IV of the Social Security Act (e.g., TANF)

  4. enrolled in a job training program funded by State or Local government

  5. previously under the care of a state foster care system​

Please note: Bellwether Housing does not accept portable screening reports.

Limited parking is available on a first-come, first-application approved basis. 


The Cambridge offers laundry facilities in the building.  

An attentive manager works onsite. 

Cats and dogs welcomed, with a 2-pet per apartment limit. Pet deposit required but no pet-rent is charged.
