Opportunities for collaboration

Bellwether partners with other organizations—both non-profit and for-profit—in several ways:
- Joint project development – maximizing investments by partnering with other developers to include affordable apartments in larger projects.
- Consulting services – using our expertise to help other non-profits build and maintain apartments for their clients.
- Working with service providers – ensuring that Bellwether residents who need support have access to appropriate services.
Joint project development
We partner with companies to develop mixed-use and mixed-income projects that include affordable apartments. Some recent successes:
- We partnered with AF Evans, a California-based developer, to build the Gilmore in downtown Seattle.
- We partnered with A Contemporary Theatre (ACT) in the historic restoration of Seattle’s Eagles Auditorium building that included 44 apartments, two performance spaces, and ACT offices.
- We partnered with Virginia Mason Medical Center, to provide both housing and employee parking.
Consulting services
We provide a variety of technical consulting services to non-profits, including housing development project management, construction management, capital needs assessments and asset management. We customize the services we provide to fit partners’ needs and budgets. We’ve provided consulting to YWCA, Downtown Emergency Service Center, Catholic Housing Services, Building Changes (formerly AIDS Housing of Washington), and Sound Mental Health, among others.
Partnerships for support services
While we do not provide direct supportive services for residents in our apartments, we find ways for those residents who need support to remain stable and successful in their apartment homes. We have referral and service agreements with the YWCA, Asian Counseling and Referral Services, Lighthouse for the Blind, Jewish Family Service, and more.
